Lovely to meet you!

It's been so long in the making, but I am so relieved, as well as thrilled, to finally say hello, and introduce myself! I'm G, also known as The Clothing Consultant, and I'm an on-call wardrobe organiser and personal styler. In addition, I now, and finally, consider myself a fully fledged blogger, and vlogger too, with this right here, right now, being my first ever official blog post – hi!

A single, 23 year old girl from Birmingham moving to London all by herself to begin her career in fashion, sounds like the premise for the perfect chick flick, but that was me, 6 years ago, with all the ambition and excitement you can imagine!

I transitioned through a hand-full of brand head quarters including New Look and Ted Baker, made work friends and met my best friends, kissed many a frog and fell in love with my boyfriend, but all along the way, I wanted to create a blog, and officially become The Clothing Consultant.

Honestly, I'm disappointed in myself for taking so long to take the plunge and go for it, but for various reasons I kept putting this off – busy work weeks required relaxing evenings and fun-filled weekends, a phobia of all things tech, baffled by blog templates let alone understanding domains, and most of all my confidence levels, all impacted the constant procrastinating of just simply going for it. But it's now that matters. I have 6 years worth of experience in a fashion career that I'm actually proud of, having got it without a degree but by working my way up from retail; I've conquered my tech fear and most importantly built on my self esteem – as I say, it's now that matters, and now, I have the confidence to confidently, go for it!

The Clothing Consultant derived from my pure love of not only spending my spare time ripping my wardrobe out just to organise it back together again, but from uploading all that I own onto a digital database in the form of an app, so I could plan outfits and carry the beloved contents of my wardrobe around with me on my phone at all times.

I've touched on my confidence levels already; they've been a massive issue for me ever since I can remember. Even as a child I never quite felt adequate and in my teens and twenties my self esteem got worse, not better. Constant rejection from boys and having the prettiest group of girlfriends, I regularly insulted myself, but not I, not any boy or anyone for that matter would ever be able to make me feel that my sense of style wasn't good enough either – me, maybe, but not my style.

Clothes, styling and fashion have always been where my confidence lies – I've never doubted that I can put a good outfit together, never doubted my own personal style, and never doubted my understanding of the industry. It's the confidence I've always had in clothes which I believe has kept me going and built me up. At 29, I'm still not the most confident, but I'm definitely in a better place, and that is down to every dress I've paired with the perfect shoes, the digitising of my wardrobe, and the organising of it, so that's what I'm going to continue to do. It's organising which clears my mind, and it's clothes that give me my confidence – lets see what we can make the combination do for you too?
